Michele Payne : more than just a childrenswear designer

Michele's new collection created especially for Playtime Paris is a concoction of playful stories and themes. There are ice-skating bears and cheeky yetis, naive florals and regal jungle cats, all with a narrative feel.

Cute characters and fun animals are a recurring element, produced using a variety of techniques in rich, unusual colorways. Often these start off with initial doodles or watercolors, which are then experimented with in Illustrator and occasionally Photoshop to create bold, illustrative and sophisticated prints.

Over the past fifteen years, since specializing in childrenswear, Michele has designed in-house for many major UK retailers, and collaborated as a freelancer with a number of brands on clothing, gift and bedding ranges. Clients include Pigeon Organics, Hibou Home, Lilly + Sid and Mothercare, to name just a few.

Playtime Paris will be Michele's first time exhibiting as a solo designer at a trade show and it's an exciting opportunity for her to make new collaborations and connections.
