The inspiring world of Lilipinso
If you’re a fan of kids interiors, then chances are that you’ve come across the French brand Lilipinso.
In an abundance of kids wall décor on the market, Lilipinso stands out as one of the leading brands with a diversified wide collection that evolves with current kids trends. Mostly known for their wallpapers, wall decals and posters, the brand has also expanded its product range to paint, rugs, bed linens, lighting and wall trophies during the last years. So what is the story behind this marvellous brand?
Lilipinso wouldn’t be where it is today without the expertise and background of its two founders. Sandrine Guigou, a mother of two children, worked several years in the media and new technology sector specializing in educational interactive programs for children, writing kids’ books and as a contributor to kids magazines. Frederi Scotto came from a corporate environment with several years of experience in business strategy, organization and development. Together they have built a successful brand which is now present in over twenty-five countries with over nine hundred references.
Sandrine reveals “My talent is to find talent” and explains that she also thinks like an interior designer by creating moodboards in which she places images of rooms, furniture and people. At the same time, she brainstorms about all the words linked to the kind of style and atmosphere she wants to achieve and once she feels content with her mix and match then she finds the perfect designer for each specific project.
A theme that Sandrine wanted to explore was a waterfront garden theme and when she came across textile designer Lucie Bellion’s floral patterns then she knew straight away that she was the right designer for the project that became the Botany collection.
“Every artist has its own sensitivity and universe” Sandrine says and adds that “Lucie’s romantic and whimsical touch was perfect for the nostalgic, retro and girly theme I had in mind”.
For another collection, such as the Bunny Collection, Sandrine chose the artist Nina Stanjer for her spontaneous way of sketching. The monochrome line drawings highlights the artist’s gesture as if only the little bunnies are moving on the wallpaper.
Sandrine particularly appreciated Mel Armstrong’s realistic style and her aquarelle techniques for the Serengeti collection which portrays a naturalistic safari ambience with wild animals drawn in black pencil and brought to life with a watercolour glaze recalling sketches from great travellers’ notebooks.
Part of the Lilipinso’s success is also thanks to their know-how in terms of finding the right manufacturing partners and controlling the logistic from their own warehouse. New projects are on their way such as a brand new website with a more inspirational approach and better user experience by offering customers the ability to refine their search by different styles, patterns, gender, products, colours etc. And that’s just one example.
