When Belgium celebrates fashion
The Belgian brand Aymara has been nominated for "Fashion brand of the year" for its men collection at the Belgian Fashion Awards.
Long-term member of the Playtime family, Aymara launched this year its first collection for men called Aymara men. After ten years of kids collections, the brand has decided to take the plunge designing this new collection for men.
Sven Van Gucht and Yannina Esquivias, founders of Aymara, have successfully met the challenge since they have been been nominated for Fashion brand of the year at the Belgian Fashion Awards very first edition in Antwerp. A jury has selected 24 Belgian brands on the basis of having distinguished themselves from other brands in the fashion industry.
Sven and Yannina have created Aymara referring to a native ethnic group in the Andes of South America. The magic of Aymara lies in the combination of Belgian design and Peru’s fibers, such as Peruvian pima cotton and precious alpaca blends. Aymara’s knitwear is produced in their own knitting factory in Arequipa, in the south of Peru, managed by Yannina’s family. "We believe that in today's world of fast fashion and mass consumption, people are looking for authentic products with a soul."
Winners will be announced the 16th of November. Stay tuned!
